“You’re an interesting species. An interesting mix. You’re capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you’re not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we’ve found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.”

What exactly does “normal” to dark skin mean? So dark skin isn’t normal? Dove is fucked up.
What the hell
yeah my friend showed me this and what can i do
2013, every body.
Ok. I’m convinced that bottles of DOVE LOTION and it’s distributors are racist fucks.
plus dove sells skin-lightening products in a lot of countries
Dove are also owned the same company who owns lynx
(google ‘the lynx effect’ for your daily dose of misogyny) Dove are evil fucksbut guuuuuuuys ~*~real beauty campaign~*~!!!!!!!
I say this all the time when some white feminist talks about dove’s ‘real beauty’ campaign. They’ve been peddling skin lightening cream to desis for years
^real talk
alkdjfkladflad people always complain about Dove’s hypocritical ‘real beauty’ campaigns and i hate it because at least they’re fucking TRYING, yknow? at least they’re making an effort to promote real beauty in women and girls, because it’s genuinely a problem. that’s more than a lot of other beauty companies can say. when you compare Dove to Victoria’s Secret ads, it’s just disgusting. and OF COURSE a beauty company’s gonna be hypocritical when it comes to this shit, THEY’RE A BEAUTY COMPANY, THEY’RE SELLING PRODUCTS THAT ALTER AND ENHANCE YOUR BODY, THAT’S THEIR PURPOSE. did anyone actually think that they’d be pure about it? if that were the case, they’d disband their product sales all together. also, the term ‘normal’ has a different connotation when used as a beautifying term, meaning ‘average.’ as in, the middle, which is what an average is mathematically. so it doesn’t mean so much like, normal in the sense that it’s not ABnormal, but normal in that it’s in the middle, or the technical, mathematical meaning of ‘average.’ so, like, between pale and dark. so that’s all irritating as well. i just, i can appreciate the fact that Dove is trying to promote self-confidence, even if they’ve fucked it up some along the way. i feel like i’m the only person who feels this way about this campaign and i hate it because no one’s bothering to appreciate the steps, however small, that are being made in the media towards self-confidence in women and girls. if we don’t give them time to fix their mistakes, they might just quit all together, and feminism or racism or sexism can’t afford for that to happen. i’ve just always had to rant about this.
